I have provided this page for information and interest purposes as I have chosen to no longer offer Reiki Training in order that I may focus on Reconnective Healing and The Reconnection. I like many people found Reiki a helpful, insightful and gentle step on my spiritual and healing journey. So, at the bottom of the page I have provided a link for a person I recommend should you wish to pursue training in Reiki.

What is Reiki?

Reiki stands for Universal Life Force Energy!

The energy referred to is that which is all around us and is found expressed in many other ways such as Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Indian Pranic Healing and so on.

The specific form that is Reiki was founded in Japan by Mikao Usui (a Buddhist Monk) in the 19th Century. It is perhaps best known in the UK as a widely accepted and complementary non invasive hands on healing therapy but it's much more than that!

Usui, however, first promoted Reiki first and foremost as a path of spiritual development which comes with the complementary ability to not only heal the self but facilitate healing in others.

Many hospitals now support the use of Reiki. It has been shown to have numerous benefits in patients feeling of well being and indeed in the healing process. Why? Because Reiki is a safe, natural way to enhance your well being and the body's innate ability to heal itself and it shows no limits in what can be accomplished.

You do not have to instruct your body how to heal a cut, a bruise or a broken bone; it has the innate ability to do so. However, if your health is poor or your immune system is in some way compromised, then your body will naturally take much to heal itself from serious illness or injury. Reiki simply provides a powerful field of natural healing energy that your body entrains to and can draw upon to accelerate its healing.

A way of life - a path of spiritual development!

If you are looking for a deeper spiritual meaning and purpose in life together with learning a new life skill, then Reiki is truly a wonderful area to explore.

In learning Reiki you will be empowered through your training to both access and utilise the Universal Life Force Energy opening up energy channels within your body to begin a truly wonderful process of personal development.

As you train you will be supported by the Reiki Master in understanding the new levels of awareness that you will have of yourself and the world around you. This process will bring you to a new level and sense of well being and joy in your life. This can happen rapidly for some and be more challenging and longer for others. The pace depends on the amount of unfinished emotional baggage we all carry around! For this reason the training is undertaken in a staged approach (see later for more details). This allows the "universal intelligence" of Reiki to integrate into your being and tackle any unresolved issues at a pace that is right for you.

The life force energy will gradually align the body's energy system at a pace that is right for you. A key way for this is through the alignment of what are known in Indian healing as "Chakras." There are seven major Chakras shown in the diagram below and perhaps not surprisingly each one is associated with the colours of the Rainbow! It is perhaps not too surprising then that as well as developing your self, your healing hands your colour perception tends to enhance too!

Unlock your inner potential!

Not surprisingly the place to start with Reiki with is with yourself and unlocking new found depths of your own self-awareness, the world around you, the ability to heal and crucially spiritual development and meaning.

In the hustle and bustle of modern day life we often lose touch with our inner self however reflect on this statement for a moment:

"We can be forgiven for thinking of ourselves as human beings that occasionally have a spiritual experience when the reality is that we are spiritual beings having a human experience."

Does that have a ring of truth for you? If so, then Reiki is probably right for you now in your life. If, however, you find that does not work for you then perhaps other paths are more suited to you. There is nothing wrong in either - we are all different! And difference is something to celebrate.

Learning Reiki!

It should not be understated that learning Reiki is an important life step and the decision to learn should be taken once you are satisfied it is the right one for you.

It is normally broken down into a three or four stage process (see below) and you can train and stop at any one of the levels dependent upon your choice and progress:

Reiki I - You learn its history, the Reiki precepts (principles) and importantly the level in which the Master first empowers the Reiki within you. The focus here will be on sensing energy, self development and treatment though you will learn the basics for treatment of others. It will involve some pre-study and a day's full practical training.

Reiki II - (Usually minimum three months after Reiki I to allow the integration of the Reiki I energy). The empowerment process is taken to a more powerful level and three specific energies are introduced along with their associated sacred symbols. You will also learn more about the intuitive side of Reiki than you did in Reiki I. Again there is further pre-study so that the day's training focuses on the practical side of the subject. You will go into greater depth of both self treatment and development and the treatment of others.

Reiki III/Master Level and sometimes Teaching if desired. The power of the energies introduced at Reiki II normally means that at least 6 months is required between Reiki II and Master level and sometimes much longer. This will be discussed on a personal level with your Master. At this level you are further empowered to the Master energy and learn the Sacred Master symbols and other ways of calling upon the energy. This again requires pre study and takes two days practical training.

At all levels comprehensive course materials are provided.

Is it right for you?

I strongly recommend a discussion about this on a one to one basis and if you have not experienced Reiki to try at least one treatment beforehand.

It is very important to find the Master that is right for you to train with since this is a major investment in your personal development. It will be important to develop a rapport and trust. This is a two way process for both you and the Master.7
