EFT
Emotional Freedom Techniques in Yorkshire

EFT (sometimes referred to as tapping therapy) was founded by a Stanford Trained Engineer - Gary Craig - it is a development of other healing modalities such as acupuncture and acupressure but without the needles!
It is suitable for and has been employed for a very wide range of issues across the world. Perhaps one of the most profound and touching was a 6 day trial carried out at the Veterans Administration in the USA on soldiers who suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This trial was undertaken by EFT Founder Gary Craig and was filmed, the soldiers who were part of the trial experienced levels of relief way beyond anything they had in around 30 years since the Vietnam war and thus experienced new levels of "freedom in their lives."
Unlock your inner healing!
How can you do this?
When you cut yourself it may be an inconvenience but you know soon that with your body's innate intelligence it will heal. And so it is with EFT we literally "tap" into this innate intelligence and clear a pathway for the body to do what it does best - keep you healthy and in balance.
Why do we need EFT then? Because despite our body's intelligence we put other blockages in the way of our healing: Negative emotions, beliefs, we may not exercise, eat healthily - you name it we do it and our body does what it can to keep us healthy! Emotions are very powerful - you have no doubt heard of cases where with positive mental attitudes people have overcome all manner of serious diseases and ailments. Equally you have probably heard of cases where negative emotions have caused extreme ill health. EFT works with the knowledge of emotions and deals with the disruption or the "zzzzzt!!" I referred to earlier thus freeing the body to heal.
Joan said "The second session was a revelation. I could see and feel myself swimming calmly an unafraid in deep water. I also saw myself rising up and out of the water and knowing I was safe and wouldn't drown. Philip certainly seems to have a gift."
The gift is EFT!
What is EFT?
EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques and at first sight may be one of the strangest healing techniques you will ever see yet it is amazingly powerful.
You will almost certainly have come across acupuncture and probably acupressure (Shiatsu) - EFT works on similar principles by working on the meridians in the body energy system but instead of needles or firm pressure from the hands it works with only light tapping together with the use of affirmations on key acupressure points on the body.
The results of this process are literally amazing and issues such as pain or emotional difficulties that have been around for years can often be healed in only a few sessions and occasionally in minutes!
The reason for this is based on what is referred to as the EFT Discovery Statement:
"The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system."
A good way to understand this is to think what might happen if you poked something metallic into an electrical component you'd definitely get a buzz or a "zzzzzt!!" as Gary Craig calls it and its pretty likely you'd get a malfunction! Now we know that the body has its own electro-chemical impulses and that they are disrupted when there is some imbalance or disease (think of that as dis-ease - i.e. not at ease). A lot of medical science is directed at correcting these imbalances with drugs and so forth.
EFT on the other hand does this or at the very least aids in this by a natural tapping process that involves no drugs!
Applying EFT!
The key to successful EFT is being able to get at the root cause of a pain, ache, emotional issue or other distress. The practitioner will guide you through a gentle discussion and questioning process aimed at identifying key information such as:
- Where is it being experienced in the body?
- How intense is it on a scale of 0-10?
- When did it first occur?
- Does it vary with time - what does the client notice?
- If it's a pain - what emotions come with it?
- If it's an emotion does it generate pain as well?
- What have you tried to resolve it?
- What would life be like without it?
And so on. From this apparently simple starting point the process can start. The practitioner will demonstrate both verbally and physically a process of creating affirmations and a simple meridian tapping sequence aimed at shifting the issue and digging deeper into its roots. It is in this process clients often remember new information or have moments of insight (aha moments) about the condition and that information is then built into the tapping process.
If say you were dealing with an intense fear of spiders that measured 10 on a scale of 0 -10 - an affirmation or EFT set up phrase might go something like this:
"Even though I have this intense fear of spiders I deeply and completely accept myself." This would be repeated three times whilst tapping key points on the hands or possibly (dependent upon the response of the client) gently rubbing the upper chest near the collar bone. This is followed by tapping other key meridian points and saying only part of the phrase above. In this instance it would be "intense fear of spiders." The tapping could be carried out by the client guided by the practitioner or by the practitioner depending on how the issue emerges for the client. After a few rounds of tapping the client would be asked if the fear was still a 10 and if it had changed quality in anyway and the process continues.
This seems so simple you might think it's too good to be true. To be quite honest it sometimes has to be seen to be believed and I have to admit to the untrained eye it can look and sound bizarre! Time after time amazing results have followed sometimes issues can clear in minutes others may take several sessions. It all depends on how complex the issue is and establishing the root cause of the problem. Each client is also left with a self-help tool - a skill for life!
EFT - Freedom!
If you are looking for genuine freedom from emotional distress, physical pain or a range of other disorders then EFT could well be the tool for you.
EFT has been shown to be effective in relieving Vietnam Veterans of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) that they have had for some 30 years!
It has relieved people of fears and phobias such as height, spiders, confined spaces, water - you name it that they have had for life.
It has helped people give up smoking and other addictions without emotional trauma and effects such as putting on weight.
It is not too big a claim to say that it has changed lives for the better.
EFT successes are so many it is impossible to list them all here. So, why haven't you heard of it if it is that good?
Well, EFT has been around for a while in the UK and started in America and like all complementary tools it takes time for people to hear about them because it's not "mainstream" practice. In America it has got to the point where mainstream medical practitioners are starting to embrace its use and wondering why they had not had access to this simple yet powerful tool before.
